THE DIOCESE OF DELAWARE
The DIOCESE OF DELAWARE is made up of 39 Episcopal churches throughout the state of Delaware. Our Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Wayne Parker Wright, presides over these churches from the Cathedral Church of St. John in Wilmington, Delaware. The diocese coordinates all the Episcopal churches of Delaware and acts as our bridge to the national Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. In addition, the Diocese of Delaware is in a companion relationship with the Diocese of Argyll & The Isles in Western Scotland. As part of this relationship, we share minitries, prayer, concern for one another, and spiritual and material resources. Many people from Argyll & The Isles visit Delaware, and there are many opportunities for our own congregations to visit this unique area of Scotland through this relationship. The Diocese of Delaware has a variety of schools and resources available to both Episcopalians and the public in general, regardless of religious background. The Diocese owns two schools, St. Anne's Episcopal Day School for Pre-K through 8th Grade, and St. Andrew's Boarding School for 9th through 12th Grade. Both schools are located in Middletown, Delaware. You may have seen St. Andrew's in the movie Dead Poet's Society, with Robin Williams. It was used as the boarding school in the film. As for resources, the Diocese owns Camp Arrowhead, a 167-acre youth camp located on the wooded western bank of Rehoboth Bay, just off Rt. 24 between Long Neck and Lewes, Delaware. The Diocese also owns an overnight conference center called the Memorial House, located in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The Diocese of Delaware is also a member and supporter of the Interfaith Resource Center (IRC) in Wilmington, Delaware. The IRC is essentially a wide reaching Christian library of books and audiovisual resources which are available in person or via mail to member denominations and their congregations.
