MUSIC is an important part of our worship services at St. Mark's. It's purpose is to help set a mood of worship and to send glory and praises to God. Below, you will find information about the wide variety of music used at St. Mark's!
Traditional Hymns - Hymns (meaning "songs of praise") are the primary music at our Traditional Services. All hymns come from the 1982 Episcopal Hymnal.
The Choir - Our church has a wonderful and committed volunteer choir that leads the congregation in singing and frequently performs new anthems for the glory of God. The choir meets weekly to practice, pending the volunteers' schedules. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact our
Parish Secretary.
Contemporary Praise Music - At our monthly Praise & Worship Services, we sing modern songs of praise from Christian musicians of today. The songs come from the CCLI (Christian Copyright License International) library of music.
Taizé -Occasionally, we will sing songs from the Taizé movement as part of a service. Taizé is a monastery in France which, in the 1940’s, began to attract young people of different denominations to informal services. Taizé music is quiet and repetitive. Many find it helpful to meditation. Those of you who are musically inclined may wish to harmonize with the music and make it your own!
